Double Zero Wines was founded by Chris and Kathryn Hermann in 2015.
What began as a dream to handcraft wines of excellence in Burgundy, Champagne, and Willamette Valley, has become an internationally acclaimed cult winery 100% owned and operated by the Hermann family.
Chris Hermann, Founding Winemaker
A native of Corvallis, Oregon and first-generation American, Chris Hermann developed an early interest in wine, influenced by family friends involved in the early West Coast wine industry as well as his father’s love of aged Mosel Riesling and White Burgundy. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Bowdoin College in 1976 and his Juris Doctor, along with an Environmental and Natural Resources Certificate, from the University of Oregon in 1981. He is also the author and editor of The Law of Wine – Oregon, a comprehensive guide on legal issues in the state’s wine industry .
Chris’s dual roles as both a legal advisor to the world’s top wine estates and vintner have positioned him as a pivotal figure in Oregon’s wine landscape, bridging the gap between legal frameworks and winemaking artistry.
Kathyn Hermann, Founding Director
Kathryn Hermann is the co-founder and creative force behind 00 Wines. Her family (Brown) is one of the oldest colonial families in New England. Local men gathered at the home of her ancestor Boaz Brown in Boxborough, Massachusetts, before marching to the Battles of Lexington and Concord, marking the beginning of the American Revolutionary War.
Kathryn’s journey into the wine industry is marked by a blend of technological acumen, artistic vision, and a deep appreciation for nature. Raised in the historic rural Maine town of Fryeburg, her father, a musician and electronics enthusiast, introduced her to computers and synthesizers at an early age. This influenced her professional background to include roles in marketing, product management, and software development within the tech startup sector in Boulder, Colorado, and New York City. Her experience in these fields honed her skills in agile operations and customer-focused strategies, which she now applies to the wine industry.
