2016 VGR - Pinot Noir

2016 VGR - Pinot Noir

The 2016 VGR "Very Good Red" Pinot Noir is a blend of two legendary Willamette Valley vineyards (Shea and Hyland) and one undiscovered biodynamically farmed vineyard called Stardance. Made with single vineyard 500L Tuscan clay amphorae fermentiations, the VGR is blended a few months before bottling.

Multilayered and silky, the VGR blend is a symphony of tones including a fragrant high note from Stardance, a racy yet elegant middle note from Shea, and a fine-grained, volcanic jory soil base note from Hyland.

Production Notes
We hand-snip the single whole berries off each tightly packed Pinot Noir cluster and ferment in 500L Tuscan clay amphorae. √Člevage in 20% new French oak for 16 months before bottling.
Winemaker Notes
Fermentation in clay amphorae softens the tannins without sacrificing structure. Whole berry fermentation imparts an elegance and lift in the mouthfeel. Produced by Alban Debeaulieu under the direction of Pierre Millemann.
