2015 Shea - Pinot Noir

2015 Shea - Pinot Noir
Single Vineyard

When you ask Pinot Noir lovers around the world to name their top Willamette Valley vineyard, most will easily recall the name "Shea". That's because winegrowers Dick and Deirdre Shea are notoriously selective when it comes to the wineries the family will sell fruit to. The Shea family strongly believes in the power of the Shea name as a stamp of quality fruit, and with good reason.

Our 2015 Single Vineyard Shea is delicate and racy with a lower alcohol content than many wines produced with Shea fruit on the market because of our early picking dates and production methods.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Planted in 1989, the Shea vineyard has 140 planted acres in sedimentary soils, at elevations ranging from 400 - 600 ft.
Production Notes
We hand-snip the single whole berries off each tightly packed Pinot Noir cluster and ferment in 500L Tuscan clay amphorae. √Člevage in 20% new French oak for 16 months before bottling.
Winemaker Notes
Fermentation in clay amphorae softens the tannins without sacrificing structure. Whole berry fermentation imparts an elegance and lift in the mouthfeel. Produced by Lea Lafon and Ryan Hannaford under the direction of Pierre Millemann.
