00 "Double Zero" Wines is an exploration of the potential of cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Willamette Valley, Burgundy, and Champagne.

00 "Double Zero" Wines is a family-owned modern house of fine and rare wines established in by Chris and Kathryn Hermann, headquartered in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA with Grand Cru French projects in Burgundy and Champagne.

Zero is the number of potential in numerology. As a first-generation American, Chris Hermann named his family winery 00 Wines to represent his relentless quest to push forward the potential of Chardonnay "0" and Pinot Noir "0" in both the New World and the Old World.

Chris Hermann has worked in the wine business for almost 40 years as a trusted legal advisor to many of the top brands and wine houses in the American and international wine industries. Originally working as an environmental lawyer specializing in land use and water rights, his career and reputation grew along in parallel with the Oregon wine industry. He is the founding chair of the Stoel Rives LLP Brewery, Winery, and Distillery group and a former co-chair of the firm’s Beverage and Hospitality group. Chris authored and now is editor of the only comprehensive discussion of legal issues concerning the Oregon wine industry entitled, The Law of Wine – Oregon. Chris leads the 00 Wines team to craft a vision of fine wine that incorporates heritage vineyard sourcing and traditional approaches to winemaking that inspires people to think differently about the potential of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

WINEMAKERS

The 00 Wines winemakers are at once both traditional and innovative - trained under the most prestigious winemakers and the descendants of prestigious winemaking families in the US and in France.  They continue to push the potential of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir forward in their respective regions.

PIERRE MILLEMANN

As the proprietor of Millemann Consulting and Millemann Wines in Nuits-Saint-Georges with his wife Stéphanie and daughter Charlotte, Pierre consults on the 00 Wines project in Oregon and is the winemaker of 00 Wines in Burgundy. As the Global Director of Winemaking, he oversees a consistent, high-quality, texture and acid-driven house style. The Millemann family has worked for many decades behind the scenes to help craft the cult wines at the most exclusive estates in Burgundy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and the United States.

Pierre's mentor as a young winemaker was René Renou, President of the Institut National des Appellations d'Origine (INAO). At the time of Renou's death he was one of the most influential men in French winemaking. Pierre obtained a Diploma of Oenology in Champagne, followed by a National Diploma of Oenology in Dijon. He then completed his training with a Master’s Degree in Oenology Research in Dijon. He now trains future oenologists at the University of Burgundy, as a part-time teacher.

JULIEN LAUNOIS

Together with his wife Sarah and son Paul, Julien Launois continues his family tradition of cultivating Chardonnay in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs, Champagne.  His father Jean-Pierre Launois has been working in the vineyards owned by his family for several generations. He created the first brand "Champagne Jean-Pierre Launois" to market his bottles as a cooperator-harvester. In 2013, Julien decided to open a new page in the history of the family house with his wife Sarah to craft their own Champagnes after Julien's travels around the world.

Julien and Sarah acquired a wine building in the heart of  Le Mesnil-sur-Oger close to Salon and Krug's famed Clos-du-Mesnil. After completing the renovation themselves, their first harvest at the new winery took place in 2015.

Sarah Launois is a fine artist and graphic designer. With her artistic skills and passion for wine, she has created the identity of the family Champagne house named after their son: Paul Launois. Champagne Paul Launois is a love story, the love of a man and a woman, the love of wine and art, the love of a son and a family. Together the Launois family works with the Hermann family to craft the 00 Wines Champagnes.
