00 Wines Team

We are family-owned and operated with a dedicated, experienced team.

Proprietors, Chris and Kathryn Hermann

Raised in the forests outside of Corvallis, Oregon by his European immigrant parents who were both professors at Oregon State University, Chris Hermann grew up with a taste for old world wines.  As the son of world-renowned Douglas Fir geneticist Dr. Richard Hermann, Chris spent his childhood in Oregon immersed in the special landscapes of the Willamette Valley, which created his lifelong interest and love for the trees, plants, fields, and forests of the region.

As the local wine industry in the Willamette Valley began to develop in the early 1970's, the Hermann family recognized the quality and potential of new world Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They became early patrons of today's iconic producers including Thomas, The Eyrie Vineyards, Cameron, and Adelsheim.

Chris’s years spent traveling as a student in Europe heightened his appreciation for fine wine enjoyment and production. He returned to Oregon to start his career and continued his travels frequently to the great wine regions of the world to taste and meet with growers and winemakers.

Chris founded 00 Wines with his father Dr. Hermann, inspired by the family’s connection between the new world and the old world and their love for world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Today he oversees the grand vision for 00 Wines together with his wife Kathryn.

Chris and Kathryn Hermann were married in July 2018 at the Carlton Winemakers Studio. On their first date, they drank a magical bottle of Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault Clos de la Barre and they've been together ever since.

Kathryn Hermann’s personal journey into the world of fine wines started around the dinner table with Chris and her father-in-law Dr. Hermann. Surrounded by maps, vintage charts, and history books, each meal together was an opportunity for the family to share their enthusiasm for the culture of wine. Prolific collectors of Mosel Rieslings, White Burgundies, and Champagne, the Hermann family’s vision for 00 Wines is to create exceptional wines for people who share a passion for exploring and drinking thoughtfully crafted fine wines.

Willamette Valley Winemaker, Wynne Peterson-Nedry

Wynne's Oregon roots run deep. As a second generation winemaker from one of the pioneering families in the Willamette Valley wine industry, she is recognized one of the leading voices in Willamette Valley wine community.

Wynne graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in chemistry in 2002 and quickly set out to explore the world. Realizing her heart was in the winemaking industry, Wynne enrolled in graduate school at University of California Davis, earning her Masters’ degree in Viticulture & Enology in 2008. Wynne worked harvests around the world including two vintages in New Zealand, one in Burgundy, and one in California before returning to the Willamette Valley in 2009.

Since her return, Wynne continues to represent her family’s legacy in Oregon’s winemaking as a second generation steward of the region and its history. Wynne has appeared on panels at the Oregon Chardonnay Celebration, the Oregon Wine Symposium, and is a leader in the Oregon LIVE Sustainable organization, which independently certifies the sustainable practices of winegrowers in the Pacific Northwest. Wynne is also a member of the founding advisory board of the Assemblage Symposium, an annual event that celebrates and discusses the roles of women in the wine industry.

In 2018, Wynne joined 00 Wines as our Willamette Valley Winemaker. She oversees day-to-day winemaking operations including working closely with our farming partners, harvest production, élevage, and bottling.

Director of Winemaking, Pierre Millemann

Pierre Millemann grew up between Anjou, where his parents lived, and Alsace where his grandparents lived and where he spent all his holidays. His father and grandfather, both wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs, quickly started transmitting their passion.

Pierre started studying in Paris. During his first internship, he met René Renou, an important figure in the wine industry, soon becoming his mentor. Fascinated by the development of the wine, Pierre understood very quickly that the terroir was the key. This is why he went to work a year in the vineyards and cellars. First in Germany, then at Château Carbonnieux in Pessac-Léognan and finally at Charles Heidsieck’s. He went back to university to perfect his knowledge, obtaining a Diploma of Oenology in Champagne, then a National Diploma of Oenology, in Dijon (Burgundy). He then continued to gain experience by occupying several positions in various regions around France; and it was in the Jura, where he worked as a cellar master, that he met Stephanie, back then student in sommellerie, who became his wife, and the mother of his daughter, Charlotte.

In 2003, thanks to their experiences and the very positive results obtained in the estates where they collaborated, Pierre and Stéphanie founded their own oenology consultancy structure. In constant look for new techniques, Pierre completed his training with a Master’s Degree in Oenology Research in Dijon, and started training future oenologists at the University of Burgundy, as a part-time teacher. The family now works with the best estates in Burgundy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy or the United States. Recently, their daughter Charlotte joined the family business and started training with her father.

Pierre consults on the entire 00 Wines project in Champagne, Oregon, and Burgundy to ensure a consistent high quality, house style.

Champagne Winemaker, Julien Launois

Belonging to the Launois family for three generations, Champagne Jean-Pierre Launois is today a winery that retains traditional values while evolving with the times. Jean Pierre Launois, with his son Julien, carry on the family tradition as stewards of the family vineyard, located in the Grand Cru village of Mesnil sur Oger in the heart of the Côte des Blancs.

In a great turning point of the family story, Julien and Sarah Launois have decided to become producers as well as growers. Their handmade cuveés are as delightful as they are rare. They believe that Champagne is a product of luxury and quality, but also a vector of contacts and openness to the world.

Julien is a true innovator in Champagne thanks to his single barrel project. Rather than vinifying and blending according to a house style, Julien is working in the vineyard to produce exceptional vin clair from a single barrel. Julien only produces nine barrels per year with this project, of which one barrel belongs to 00 Wines. We are excited to bring this innovative Champagne into America in 2019.
