Named after Christopher Columbus, Chris has been a world traveler from the very beginning. In 1953 while in utero, he and his mother Freya traveled from her homeland in Germany to join his father Richard in the United States. Richard, Freya, and Chris settled in Corvallis, Oregon where both parents became professors at Oregon State University.
The Hermann family's passion for wine was passed down to Chris thanks to their deep connection to their European roots and the love of their new home in Willamette Valley. As the local wine industry began to develop in the late 1970's, the Hermann family recognized the quality and potential of Willamette Valley wines, and became early patrons of today's iconic producers including Thomas, Eyrie, Cameron, and Adelsheim.
In the 1980's, Chris graduated from the University of Oregon law school, and began a career in environmental and land use law. His love of wine and entrepreneurial spirit inspired him to found the Stoel Rives Brewery, Winery, and Distillery group. Chris authored and now is editor of the only comprehensive discussion of legal issues concerning the Oregon wine industry entitled, The Law of Wine - Oregon. For over 30 years, Chris has been a trusted advisor to the people of the Oregon wine industry because of the breadth and depth of his knowledge, and his experience spending time with vintners and growers in wine producing regions around the world.
Chris and Kathryn Hermann were married in July 2018 at the Carlton Winemakers Studio. On their first date, they drank a magical bottle of Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault Clos de la Barre and they've been together ever since.
An accomplished technologist and startup founder, Kathryn manages private client experience and wholesale logistics for 00 Wines.
Together the Hermanns oversee the entire 00 Wines project, frequently traveling to visit the 00 Wines French team.
Prolific collectors of Mosel Rieslings, White Burgundies, and Champagne, the Hermanns' vision for 00 Wines is to create exceptional wines that excite the palates of the world's great collectors.

Wynne's Oregon roots run deep. Originally from North Carolina, Wynne's father Harry Peterson-Nedry, purchased and planted Ridgecrest Vineyards, the first vineyard in what would become the Ribbon Ridge AVA, which he co-authored in 2001.
Wynne graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in chemistry in 2002 and quickly set out to explore the world. Realizing her heart was in the winemaking industry, Wynne enrolled in graduate school at University of California Davis, earning her Masters’ degree in Viticulture & Enology in 2008. Wynne worked harvests around the world including two vintages in New Zealand, one in Burgundy, and one in California before officially joining the Chehalem team as assistant winemaker in June of 2009. In 2012, she became Chehalem’s winemaker. With her father, she continues to make wine from the family's Ridgecrest Vineyards estate under the RR Wines brand.
Côte-d'Or Winemaker, Willamette Valley Consulting Winemaker
Pierre Millemann grew up between Anjou, where his parents lived, and Alsace where his grandparents lived and where he spent all his holidays. His father and grandfather, both wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs, quickly started transmitting their passion.
Pierre started studying in Paris. During his first internship, he met René Renou, an important figure in the wine industry, soon becoming his mentor. Fascinated by the development of the wine, Pierre understood very quickly that the terroir was the key. This is why he went to work a year in the vineyards and cellars. First in Germany, then at Château Carbonnieux in Pessac-Léognan and finally at Charles Heidsieck’s. He went back to university to perfect his knowledge, obtaining a Diploma of Oenology in Champagne, then a National Diploma of Oenology, in Dijon (Burgundy). He then continued to gain experience by occupying several positions in various regions around France; and it was in the Jura, where he worked as a cellar master, that he met Stephanie, back then student in sommellerie, who became his wife, and the mother of his daughter, Charlotte.
In 2003, thanks to their experiences and the very positive results obtained in the estates where they collaborated, Pierre and Stéphanie founded their own oenology consultancy structure. In constant look for new techniques, Pierre completed his training with a Master’s Degree in Oenology Research in Dijon, and started training future oenologists at the University of Burgundy, as a part-time teacher. The family now works with the best estates in Burgundy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy or the United States. Recently, their daughter Charlotte joined the family business and started training with her father.
Pierre consults on the entire 00 Wines project in Champagne, Oregon, and Burgundy to ensure a consistent high quality, house style.
Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Winemaker
Belonging to the Launois family for three generations, Champagne Jean-Pierre Launois is today a winery that retains traditional values while evolving with the times. Jean Pierre Launois, with his son Julien, carry on the family tradition as stewards of the family vineyard, located in the Grand Cru village of Mesnil sur Oger in the heart of the Côte des Blancs.
In a great turning point of the family story, Julien and Sarah Launois have decided to become producers as well as growers. Their handmade cuveés are as delightful as they are rare. They believe that Champagne is a product of luxury and quality, but also a vector of contacts and openness to the world.
Julien is a true innovator in Champagne thanks to his single barrel project. Rather than vinifying and blending according to a house style, Julien is working in the vineyard to produce exceptional vin clair from a single barrel. Julien only produces nine barrels per year with this project, of which one barrel belongs to 00 Wines. We are excited to bring this innovative Champagne into America in 2019.
