2019 Vintage Allocation

Thank you for your interest in the 2019 vintage Willamette Valley allocation from 00 Wines.

The 2019 Willamette Valley vintage collection consists of:

4 Chardonnays

2019 VGW Chardonnay

2019 EGW Chardonnay

2019 Richard Hermann Cuvée Chardonnay (1 barrel produced - 25 cases)

2019 Kathryn Hermann Cuvée Chardonnay (1 barrel produced - 25 cases)

5 Pinot Noirs

2019 VGR Pinot Noir

2019 Shea Pinot Noir

2019 Hyland Pinot Noir (50 year old own-rooted vines)

2019 Chehalem Mountain Pinot Noir (52 year old own-rooted vines)

With this release, we introduce the very first 00 Wines Chehalem Mountain Pinot Noir, a single vineyard single block selection of own-rooted Pommard clone Pinot Noir planted by Dick Erath in 1969 in the vineyard he originally scouted, cleared, and planted as a Willamette Valley wine pioneer. This wine was hand-snipped, whole berry fermented in 500L terra cotta amphorae imported from Tuscany.

Due to the extraordinary enthusiasm and demand for our small production wines, we will now be offering wines direct from the winery on allocation only during specific release periods. The allocation model ensures that the most passionate 00 Wines fans and collectors are able to secure new releases, large formats, library wines, and our French wines directly from us to ensure authenticity, proper cellaring / handling, and service.

Our wines will not be available via e-commerce on our website. As an allocation member you will have the opportunity to purchase our single vineyard 00 Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs directly from us before anyone else. As we approach our 7th harvest as a commercial winery, we are honored by the enthusiastic response to our wines as the awareness and appreciation for 00 Wines continues to reach new heights.

"I’ve been in the wine business for nearly 40 years. And only a handful of times have I come across a producer new to me, with very little history, that I would bet will have a profound impact on how we think about where the greatest wines can come from.

Once again it's happened, and this time the game-changer is Chris and Kathryn Hermann’s 00 (Double-Zero) Wines in Oregon’s Willamette Valley."
-Mannie Berk, President, The Rare Wine Company

The decision to move to this allocation-based model was accelerated by the sad news that we are now sharing with you about the 00 Wines 2020 Willamette Valley vintage. Because of the extensive wildfires and smoke during the 2020 harvest in the Willamette Valley, we will not be releasing a 2020 vintage wine. This has never happened before in the 50+ years of winemaking in this region. We did everything that we could to produce the magical wines with the aromatics, flavors, and fine textures that you know and love. We paid all of our farming partners and we made wine to the best of our ability in the hope that we might achieve a brilliant collection of wines despite adverse conditions. After many months of lab testing and sensory evaluation by our winemaking team, we have concluded that we cannot bottle and offer you these wines. Therefore in the Fall of 2022 we will not have new wines to release. We are letting you know this now so that you have this information while you are making your purchasing decisions about the 2019 vintage.

Shipping Terms / Privacy Policy

All orders are processed at 00 Wines, and shipped from WineCo in Salem, OR, the most comprehensive direct-to-consumer wine shipping program in the Pacific Northwest offering complete direct-to-consumer fulfillment. Direct-to-consumer wines are stored prior to shipping in the WineCo temperature-controlled wine warehouse. We ship orders ground using FedEx or UPS (if preferred) to all states where we have DTC shipping permits and our shipping prices include packaging materials. We will not ship ground during the winter and summer months because weather conditions and longer delivery times may result in the spoilage of your order. Please note that when your wine order is picked up at WineCo by the common carrier for delivery, the wine becomes your responsibility. 00 Wines is not responsible for, and will not replace wine that is damaged by extreme weather conditions during shipment.

As a customer, you are responsible for paying shipping charges and local taxes, which will be added to your allocation total in your invoice. Please note that the taxes are calculated based on the delivery address. 00 Wines contracts with Avalara, a global tax and regulatory software system, to calculate real-time taxes in your state, county, and city of delivery.

All wines are sold in Oregon and title and risk of loss passes to the buyer in Oregon at the time the wines are shipped from WineCo’s premises or warehouse (“Shipment”), as applicable. Following Shipment, except to the extent caused by an error by 00 Wines, Buyer shall be responsible for all costs and expenses related to the wine and shipment thereof, including without limitation any costs related to or resulting from delayed shipments. 00 Wines shall not be liable for any costs or expenses related to the wine following shipment.

Please note that 00 Wines may not be able to ship wine to certain states. Due to changing direct-shipping laws and regulations, the list of states that we ship to may change at any time. 00 Wines will arrange for shipment on behalf of the buyer, to an address specified by the buyer, provided that 00 Wines in its sole discretion believes that such shipment will not subject 00 Wines to the risk of any legal action or other harm. If a buyer lives in a state where the direct shipment of wine by 00 Wines may violate the law, we will contact the buyer to discuss shipping options, which may include provision of an alternative shipping address in a state where the direct shipment of wines to consumers is permitted or storage of the wines at a buyer designated third-party storage facility.

00 Wines will notify you by email when your wines are ready to be shipped. Please be aware that your order may be delayed until appropriate weather and shipping conditions arise to protect your wines. An adult signature will be required for delivery of alcoholic beverages. To ensure prompt and successful deliveries of your wines, please ensure that an adult (21 years of age or older) will be present and available to sign for your shipment. 00 Wines will not be held responsible for any shipment delays (or wine damaged as a result of such delays) caused by erroneous information provided by the customer at the time of ordering or caused by the failure of an adult to be present for signature at the time the wines are delivered.

Please contact 00 Wines at (503) 376-7147 or kathryn@00wines.com with any questions or concerns you may have regarding our shipping policies.

FAQs

“I was a member of your club, am I a member of your allocation now?”

Yes, your membership will be rolled over into our new allocation process, subject to your acceptance of our new Shipping Terms / Privacy Policy. 00 Wines will contact all “club members” and will roll over memberships only after members agree to the new Shipping Terms / Privacy Policy.

In early 2020 00 Wines began signing up members to a club with three options:

“Black Chardonnay, Amphora Pinot Noir, or Collectors” consisting of a 12 bottle allocation that shipped 6 bottles in the fall and 6 bottles in the spring. Due to the unprecedented logistical hurdles, costs, delays, and surges caused by the global pandemic beginning in March 2020, 00 Wines is no longer able to coordinate mass shipments to hundreds of our private buyers twice per year. Please request a change in your allocation type or cancel your allocation by emailing kathryn@00wines.com.

“Is the only benefit of being an allocation member access to the wines?”

There are no discounts, guarantees of tasting options, or event invitation guarantees by joining the 00 Wines allocation. The benefit of becoming an allocation member and / or keeping your annual allocation is access to the wines prior to release including 00 Wines produced in Willamette Valley, Burgundy, and Champagne, large formats, special releases, library wines etc. With the growing demand for the wines around the world by fine restaurants and private buyers, the benefit to you of this move to a traditional allocation model is continued access to purchase the wines. This is a model that is common in the fine wine world followed by the top producers in globally recognized wine regions.

“Am I able to substitute wines in my 1 case allocation?”

No, but you can add wines to your allocation. 00 Wines are great for trading with your wine loving friends if you prefer different selections.

“Can I split my allocation?”

No, 00 Wines cannot split your allocation with another customer because of the additional administration that this requires. Once the wine is paid for and delivered to a single customer, it is the customer’s decision to hold, split or drink among friends. Wine is for sharing.

Thank you for your interest in the 00 Wines allocation. As a company and as a family we love the great wines of the world and the people who enjoy them. It is an honor to share our passion for fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with you.
